Safety and Neutrality Policies and Procedures:
The Fine Arts Center is dedicated to fostering a creative environment that is safe, welcoming, and inclusive for all individuals, regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or political views. This policy outlines our commitment to neutrality on sensitive social issues and ensures that all members of our community feel respected and valued.
Neutral Stance:
The Fine Arts Center does not support events, classes, or performances, flags or banners aimed at controversial topics related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or politics. Our focus is on artistic expression and education that promote creativity and empower lives without delving into divisive issues. Groups wishing to rent the Fine Arts Center will be allowed exceptions but will not be permitted the use of the Logo’s, advertising channels, or the Website of the Fine Arts Center, nor claim to be supported or sponsored by the Fine Arts Center. Groups will not be permitted to promote with flags or identifying signage outside the building on the grounds of the Fine Arts Center. Renters will need to sign these policies and procedures indicating they understand our neutral stance.
Open and Accepting Environment:
We are open and accepting of all individuals. Our center embraces diversity and strives to create an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable participating, regardless of their background or beliefs.
Staff and Volunteer Compliance:
All volunteers, instructors, and staff are required to abide by this policy. It is their responsibility to maintain a neutral stance when acting in behalf of the Fine Arts Center and ensure that our programs reflect the inclusive values of the Fine Arts Center.
Communication with youth:
All staff, volunteers, and instructors are only allowed to text or call youth under the age of 18 with written permission from a legal guardian. Permission will be included on registration forms. All communications must be related to the activities for which the youth are registered. All staff and volunteers are required to report to the parents if the youth is contacting them for reasons unrelated to FAC activity, so appropriate choices and boundaries can be in place.
Guidelines for Youth Interactions:
If staff or volunteers encounter questions from youth regarding the sensitive topics mentioned above, or if situations arise that may lead to discussions about these issues, for their own legal protection the following protocol must be followed: - Parents or legal guardians must provide signed waivers and permission for any discussions or instruction involving these sensitive topics. Permission will NOT be included on registration forms. -Staff and volunteers should guide conversations back to the art-related focus of our programs and provide appropriate age responses. -Staff should encourage youth to ask their parents or guardian if they are inquiring about sensitive issues. You are allowed to answer a question from youth, you are NOT permitted to educate them. If questions are asked, we request you inform parents, to let them know what question was asked, your response and inform them that the youth was directed to ask parents.
Parental Rights:
We respect the rights of parents and legal guardians to educate their children about sensitive issues. The Fine Arts Center encourages parents to engage in these discussions outside of our programs and engage in further exploration of these topics in their home.
Mandatory Reporting of Abuse:
All volunteers, instructors, and staff are required to report any suspected or witnessed abuse to the Executive Director immediately. They must be willing to provide an official statement to local and state authorities if necessary. The safety and well-being of all participants are of utmost importance, and we are committed to taking appropriate action to protect our community.
Non-Bullying Policy:
To foster a safe environment and fulfill our mission of inclusion and empowering lives through the arts, the Fine Arts Center maintains a strict non-bullying policy. Any form of bullying, harassment, or discrimination will not be tolerated. All participants are encouraged to treat one another with respect and kindness, ensuring that everyone feels valued and included.
Protocol for bullying:
At the beginning of all activities rules of conduct and behavior should be outlined.
* On first offense, youth should be told to stop and that parents will be informed if they act out again.
* On second offense, parents should be informed of the behavior.
* On third offense parents should be asked to accompany youth to be allowed to continue the program.
Supervision of Youth Activities:
To ensure a safe environment for youth participants, a minimum of two adults must be present during all youth activities or classes. This policy aims to provide adequate supervision and support, promoting a safe and nurturing space for all youth. Implementation: This policy will be communicated to all staff, volunteers, and participants. Regular training sessions will be held to ensure understanding and adherence to these guidelines.
